ABOUT

We are an active club with approximately 60 members committed to the Friendship Force mission of promoting understanding, cultural education and citizen diplomacy through homestay-based Journeys and personal friendships. Our homes are scattered throughout Oregon's Mid-Willamette Valley. We typically participate in one international and one domestic outbound journey each year. We also host one international and one domestic inbound journey each year. We meet monthly for social and cultural programs. Meetings are held in various cities in the valley.
Oregon's Mid-Willamette Valley is one of our state's prime agricultural areas. Our location is ideal, with Portland an hour away to the north and the Pacific Ocean just an hour and a half away to the west. Interstate 5 runs north and south through our region making for easy transportation. our climate is moderate with plenty of rain which results in harvests of hazelnuts, berries, fruits and vegetables that are available at farmers' markets and fruit stands all summer long. Our area is also known for the state capitol in Salem, numerous wineries, interesting museums and the Oregon Garden in Silverton.

Visiting Our Club

Most of our inbound journeys occur between May and September when the Willamette Valley's weather is in the 70-80F degree range.
Visitors usually arrive at the Portland, Oregon International Airport (PDX).

Our members customize the journey activities for our guests. Journeys may include visits to the Oregon coast, to public or private gardens, meals from locally sourced foods and, of course, local wine and beer tasting.
